Video Transcript

"Hi, this is Heather Kamins with Expert Village. If you are having arthritis pain, talk to your doctor because they may be able to prescribe you a prescription pain killers for that. They may also recommend over the counter pain killers. Talk to them about how to take those because some of them you need to take with food so they don't hurt your stomach. Another thing that can be helpful is heat. It could be a heating pad but wet heat in particular like a hot bath a lot of people find helpful in relieving joint pain. Exercise is another really good thing to help keep your joints loose and also to help keep your muscles strengthened to support your joints. Low impact gentle exercise like swimming or water aerobics or walking or biking if you are up to that can really be helpful. It's always important to talk to your doctor before you start an exercise program and you could also talk to a physical therapist to help you design a program or if you are a little bit more limited in your motion."
