"Hi, this is Heather Kamins with Expert Village. The main thing here is to be sensitive to their needs. They may need someone to talk to but there may also be times when they just don't want to talk about it. It can be hard when you have someone you love or care about who is going through this difficult thing and you want to do something for them and it may not always feel like your doing anything. Just being therefore them is really probably more helpful than you realize. Remember if you have someone who you know who has Lupus ask them what they need. They may need or want help around the house cooking and cleaning. They may want someone to come to doctor?s visits with them. They may just need someone to come by and cheer them up and get them out of the house. There is so many things that you can help them with but it is important to figure out what they need and what they want. Also, be sensitive to the fact that they may have different needs in terms of what they eat. There energy may be different and they may not be able to do all the things that they once were able to do. Just be sensitive to that in terms of planning activities with them."
