"Hi, this is Heather Kamins, here for Expert Village. There are a lot of different emotions you may be feeling, and it's really important to have someone to talk to about them. Whether it's a family member, a friend, a professional therapist or a counselor, or even just keeping a journal, it's really important to have some outlet for getting those feelings out. It's also really important to talk to your doctor and make sure that any questions you have get answered. You may find it helpful to read books or articles or other information about lupus, and to research it, but there may also be times when you just kind of need a break, and you need to not think about it so much, think about other aspects of your daily life and things that make you happy and relaxed. If you do decide to research lupus, make sure that what you're reading and looking up is newer information, because, really, the field has come a long way in the last few decades, and the outlook is much more promising, and you might get an inaccurate and overly negative picture if you're looking at older information."
