" My name is Karen Fraser and I am a Certified Health Practitioner. I work out of the greater Philadelphia area and you can reach me by e-mail, healingleaves7@yahoo.com. If we can come over here, I have a couple of charts that I'd like to share with you that relate to detoxifying the body. First of all, the system that we mainly deal with when in detoxification is the intestinal system. The intestinal system consists of the colon, or the large intestines. Now the colon, it is important to understand how the colon works and this will give you a better understanding of detoxification and why it is so important to detoxify the body. The colon is broken up into different segments and we have the ascending colon, which is on the right side of the body. We have the transverse colon, which goes across and we have the descending colon, which goes down and out to the rectum and the anus of the colon. Now, the colon is about 5 feet long. In diameter, it is about 2 to 2 ½ inches wide in diameter. One way to know if you have a healthy colon or not is just by looking at your waste material when it passes through your colon. The waste material should take the form of your colon. If it's not taking the form of your colon, then that is an indication that there is work you need to do for detoxification."
