"DR. SUSAN JEWELL: Hello. My name is Dr. Susan Jewell and on behalf of Expert Village today, I'm going to talk to you about fatigue and how to reduce the symptoms of fatigue. Now, in this clip, we're going to talk about various methods to address--to try to alleviate the symptoms of fatigue. Now, some of the ways you could do is to try to address the spiritual aspect of your lifestyle. I mean, it's all about also when you live a healthy life not just the physical, mental, it's also the spiritual so maybe you should look into that. There are a lot of groups out there, spiritual groups you could go and research and go and find out, and also books, spiritual books, uplifting books that you can get either in the library or in the many bookstores that are out there or online as well, or you can go and find about ways that you can at least work on the spiritual aspect of your makeup and that would also help you to have some goals and be motivated and therefore that would help the fatigue that you might be experiencing quite often. And other ways too is meditation. Meditation is just really a way to calm the brain. Because a lot of times when you're fatigued, especially people who suffer from chronic fatigue, is because they have drained their body's energy either from high stress, pressure of life, problems, issues, et cetera, so forth, so when you mediate you could calm you brain down because then your brain usually is--while we are conditioned in society is that we overwork our brain, never give it a rest, and meditation is a good thing. There's a lot of groups out there now. It's very popular to go to meditate in groups, in churches, in spiritual groups, or you can learn the technique on your own. You can buy books and tapes that will help you. Yoga is the physical expression of meditation, yoga and Pilates because it helps to reduce stress and tension in the body and that would also give you exercise and increase circulation that would help the fatigue. You can also go counseling therapy and join group activities that would give you motivation and drive and that will also overcome fatigue. Positive uplifting activities that you can get in books and films, go to self-help and inspirational books and films that are popular right now and they're readily available either in the local libraries or in bookstores where you can buy or, in fact, very simply just go on the Internet. There's just a vast amount of information in this subject area which you can learn about and also teach yourself how to build a balanced and healthy mental and physical lifestyle that would help you overcome the symptoms of fatigue and also reduce the occurrence of fatigue syndrome in your life."
