"Hello! My name is Dr. Susan Jewell and on behalf of Expert Village, today I will talk to you about how to treat and recognize headaches. In this particular clip, I'm going to talk to you about the types of different headaches. If you look at this board, I've broken down the types of headaches of the most commonly complaints that I find from the population. The most common types of headaches that people come in to complain about is tension headache. That effects 90% of the cases that I see. The other type of headache is cluster headache. This predominantly affects the male population. Chronic headaches has a strong genetic component. Migraines are also about 45% of the cases affect mostly women that complain of this particular type of headaches. Other types of headaches are caused by certain medical conditions like neurological conditions like seizures. Brain tumors can cause severe headaches. Hematomas, subdural hematoma, can cause particular headaches. Illnesses like fevers, colds, and flu’s also is a common cause of many types of headaches. Pharmacological over the counter drugs or certain medications that you take for other medical conditions can also induce certain headaches and pains associated with headaches. In the next series of clips, I will talk in particular about each particular type of headaches, the causes, the etiology, and how you can deal with the pain that's associated with these kinds of headaches."
