"Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell. Now, in this series of clips, I'm talking about how to detect prostate cancer and, in particular, I want to teach you how to recognize the signs and symptoms of prostate cancer or even signs and symptoms that would be related to problems of the prostate gland. It's important to know these signs and symptoms, because prostate cancer, in particular, presents at an early stage, very asymptomatic. Which means you don't get any symptoms or signs that you have prostate cancer. And only at the latest stages of this particular cancer that you actually can feel symptoms and signs. But there are also some particular signs that actually will indicate to you that you might have prostate cancer and it's at the very late stage of prostate cancer. One of these particular signs is that you lose your appetite. And you've lost your appetite not because you've done a drastic change in your diet. In fact, you're eating the same kind of food, the same amount of food, but you still cannot maintain that weight on your body. So, you're losing a lot of weight. And that happens in a lot of patients or individuals who have cancer. And not just prostate cancer, but cancer in particular. So that is one sign that you actually should be aware of and learn to recognize that will, along with some other signs of prostate cancer or prostate problems, you're also losing weight. And it's persistent, and no matter how much you eat, you're still losing the weight and losing your appetite, as well. And the other sign that accompanies prostate cancer are signs that you're lethargic, you're fatigued, you have no energy. Even though you're maintaining your intake of food, you still don't have the energy. You feel very tired all the time, you have weakness. You just feel very weak and you don't have the strength. So these are some of the signs that would indicate a very late stage of prostate cancer. It could also mean that it's spread out of the prostate gland itself. So, this is something that you really need to learn to recognize along with the other signs, and actually go immediately to have a checkup with your medical doctor to rule out or to rule in cancer."
