"Hello my name is Dr. Susan Jewell. Now it is very important that you actually learn to recognize some of the signs and symptoms of prostate problems in particular if you are suspicious that you might have prostate cancer. Because in the early stages of this particular cancer it is asymptomatic which means that you don't see or feel any symptoms from the cancer itself and by the time you actually feel the symptoms then the cancer has probably grown to a significant size that is affecting all the surrounding structures that actually were giving you the signs and symptoms. There are particular early stages of signs that you can actually be aware of and recognize. One of them is a dull pain in the lower back and in the lower pelvic area. The pain is persistent, it is continually there and it does not go away. Now I'll show you the area on the body where you can actually feel the pain. Usually if you are going to get a dull pain and you are suspicious of any problems the pain is going to be in this region here in your pelvic region and in particular in the lower pelvic region here and sometimes people could present with lower back pain as well so they could get pain in this area here. So this is one signs and symptoms of early prostate cancer that you should be able to recognize."
