"DREW NOAH: Now, I'm going to show you how you can set your calorie goals, which is this tab right here and is also this calorie counter right there. See, now that tab is up, and what this is, is you can calculate the number of calories you need to eat in a day to achieve your weight goals whether you want to maintain, lose or gain weight. So it says, in general, to lose weight, you must reduce your total calorie intake, increase your exercise or ideally, do both. So, this is what your calorie calculator looks like. So you want to enter in your age, your height and then your weight, I'll just make something up here, and then your goal. So your goals are to lose two pounds per week, 1.5 pounds per week, 1 pound per week, maintain your current weight. I'm sorry, these were gain 2, 1.5 or 1 pound, maintain your current weight or lose 1, 1.5 or 2 pounds, or you can even enter in a custom example. But really, it's not really healthy to lose more than 2 pounds a week. I read so, you might want to read up on that. A healthy weight loss is not going to be incredibly drastic. But--so I'll just enter in that. And then you've got an activity level. And this is just your activity level of everyday life: got sedentary, lightly active, moderately active, very active or extremely active. So if you just work in an office, its probably going to be something like lightly active. And then you'll just use save and calculate. And there you go. It gives you your calorie requirement has been saved at 1,312 a day. And that's what I have to do to lose 2 pounds per week. So just set it to whatever you want. And that's how you can find out your calorie goal. And then you can, as you track your calories, you'll just try to be mindful of this goal and try to stay under your goal limit for the day. So that's how you use the 'my calorie goals' section of thedailyplate.com."
