"Hi. This is Eileen Dey on behalf of Expert Village and in this segment we'll talk about an introduction to Confucianism. Born Chiai Gong in 551 B.C. Confucius wanted order out of chaos. He had an appreciation for the ancients. In some manuscripts it's stated that he helped edit the e-ching and actually had a meeting of Lao Tsu. We'll talk about these philosophers meaning in the next segment. After the death Maan or minuscious Confucius taught six principals and five constant virtues. His wisdom and insights were used as a moral code for government for centuries and still was continued really up until very recently to be used in exams for government clerics and so forth to obtain their positions. Buddhism which came in later into China mirrored some of the morality of Confucian ideas. That's what made it so acceptable into the society. In this next segment we'll talk about the three philosophies of China. How they wove together and what they mean for Chinese thought and Chinese medicine today."
