"This is Eileen Dey, on behalf of Expert Village. In this section, we will talk about energetic essence as it relates to the ideas in Hinduism and Ayurveda. In the Ayervedic system, we have the idea of 'prana', which is similar to 'chi' in Chinese medicine or 'qi' in Reiki in Japanese tradition. It represents a life force. An energetic essence that flows through and within the human and material worlds. There is a system referred to as the "sishumna", the "ida", and the "pugala" that allows prana to traverse the whole of the human's body, going through the energetic centers, referred to as "chakras". Kundalini energy is the very foundation of our consciousness. It's represented by snake coiled 3.5 turns at the base of the spine. So, when an individual is either at a certain age or has been a practitioner of yoga or other spiritual disciplines, or living a very healthful balanced life -- kundalini often awakens and allows that energetic essence (that potential for an individual's experience to expand and illuminate consciousness). In this next section, we will talk about the 5 primary elements."
