The Caste System in Indian Healing Traditions

"This is Eileen Day on behalf of Expert Village, and in this segment we'll talk about the caste system. Hinduism is the only religion in the world that has such a particular system inherent into its society. It comes out of the mythology of Brahma creating the first man. Manu, this first man, developed these castes of society. Out of his head came the Brahmin, the priestly caste, out of his hands came the rulers and the warriors, out of his thighs came the craftspeople, and out of his feet came the rest of humanity. And so, from this tradition established so long ago, you have segmented society. Marriages, relationships are dictated on caste. Government and other political positions are also looked at of one's upbringing. In this next segment, we'll talk about yoga, out of the ayurvedic system of medicine."
