Video Transcript

"Hi. In this series, we're going to talk about yoga for insomnia. And in this clip, we're going to start with a few general recommendations for overcoming insomnia, aside from your yoga practice. There are a few things you can do that are actually written down by the yogis, aside from your Asana practice, to make sure you get a good night's sleep. They are things like don't take your worries to bed with you. Make sure that you speak your truth every day. Be your authentic self every day. Don't make decisions that cause you to worry. Do other things like make sure you eat your last meal at least three hours before bedtime. A small carbohydrate-filled snack is allowed right before bed, but don't eat a heavy meal right before you go to down. Avoid drinks with caffeine in them is another recommendation of the yogis. Make sure you get some kind of exercise during the day. Yoga is perfect for this. Make sure you keep your bedroom clear and uncluttered, because the mess around you is going to just add to any chaos and add chatter to your mind. Make sure you keep your bedroom at an appropriate temperature; twenty four degrees Celsius is what is recommended, with some air circulating. If you follow these recommendations, do something before bed like have a calming ritual. Do this yoga. Take a bath with lavender. Something like that. If you follow these recommendations, along with your yoga practice, you should have no trouble getting a good night's rest."
