"Hi! This is Dr. Erik Sorbo on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip, we’ll be talking about posture and the importance of that for your health. When we look at the spine from the side, we should see 3 nice curves in the spine. We should see a forward curve in the neck, a backward curve in through the mid-back, and another forward curve in the low back. We shouldn’t see any curves when we look at the spine from the front. Proper posture centers all the weight over the top of the hips, and keeps everything balanced around the center. If we alter our posture, if we slouch, we have a tendency to get rid of the curves in the spine, extenuate others, which can cause ligament strain and changes with the soft tissue, altering the normal posture of the spine. The structures that we, as chiropractors, are most concerned about are these structures right here, these are the nerves. If we have any abnormal posture here we can put pressure on these nerves affecting the signal going from the brain to the rest of your body, affecting how your body works. So, proper posture, and improper posture especially has possible ratifications on your overall health interfering with the proper signals from your brain through your body. "
