on 11/21/2008 Hi,

A nice introduction. The big EPIC Oxford study found that some vegans were not getting enough calcium, so this is very important.

You can listen to a five minute internet radio report about it, including dietician Marty Davey saying how to get it, here:

I hope you'll forgive the plug (and that it's not 100% raw) because of its relevance.

Thanks,

Bill

"Hello, welcome. We are raw food doctors Rick and Karen Dina. We specialize in teaching the benefits of whole natural plant food nutrition from a raw food perspective. We're here today to talk to you about what is a Vegan diet. So here we have some great plant based sources of calcium. First of all, we have our broccoli right here and that is pretty well known as being a good source of calcium, most people know that. And then we also have kale right here, which is an excellent source as well. And all the way back here, we've got our bok choy. Now bok choy is really one of the best sources of plant based calcium. Even better than this would be Napa cabbage, which looks very similar to this. I don't have any of it here today, but its easily found in most grocery stores. So, if you're interested in increasing the amount of calcium from plant based sources, these are some great ones to start with."
