"Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell and in this clip we're going to talk about the causes of testicular cancer. Now, researchers found that we don't really know the actual cause of a person getting testicular cancer, but there are associated risk factors. Now, it's been found that, so the unknown origin is usually what we would say to patients, but we'll say, well there is a very strong correlation of you being predisposed to getting testicular cancer if you have these other conditions. For example, undescended teste, that means that during you're fetus development. So, another associated correlation for people for males getting testicular cancer is this condition called undescended teste or a medical term called crypto organism. Now, this is a condition where during development you're testes remain undescended, so it doesn't descend down into the scrotal sack itself. And that seems to put a person at a higher risk of getting testicular cancer when they're older. Abnormal testicular development, or there is a genetic association, for example, there is a particular genetic disorder called Klinefelter's syndrome, where there is a sex chromosome disorder. So, that also puts a male at a higher risk of getting testicular cancer when they're older. Or if you have a history of testicular cancer, that will also put you at a higher risk for getting testicular cancer later on."
