"Hello my name is Dr. Susan Jewell and on behalf of expert village today I am going to talk to you about the subject of osteoarthritis and we're going to talk about the causes the definition, signs and symptoms risk factors and ways to alleviate the pain from arthritis when you do get it. And, in this particular clip today we're going to talk about risk factors, now what risk factors would put you at high risk for getting arthritis. Well it has been shown that there's a genetic component or a family history, if you have family history of other people that in your family that has had osteoarthritis then you're at a higher risk at getting it yourself. Of course age as well and your diet and your life style is also contributing factor to you at risk or at no risk reduce risk for getting it. Obesity absolutely the number one contributing factor that would put your arthritis because of the weight that you are going to impose on your skeletal muscle and skeletons throughout the years that's going to cause a lot of problem so you are going to put yourself at a higher risk for getting osteoarthritis when you are obese and overweight as well as many other diseases that you can get from obesity so diet and weight is an important factor. Previous joint traumas, if you had any joint problems you know accidents, playing football you broke your knee you know you had a car accident for example and anything that is previous accidents to your skeletal skeletons then you going to put yourself at a risk of arthritis as well so these are some of the factors risk factors that will put a person at higher risk in the normal population of getting arthritis."
