"Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell and on behalf of Expert Village today, I'm going to talk to you about the subject of cholesterol and in particular ways to lower cholesterol. Now in this clip we are going to look at nuts. Nuts and high fiber items to eat in your diet because I think diet is very important if you want to keep a healthy body and low LDL cholesterol levels in your body. Now nuts have the property that it actually absorbs LDL in the body so that there is less, less absorbed into the liver. So if you eat a lot of nut products, which is very readily available in any kind of super markets. So here I have several types of nut like or fruits that are high fiber, because fiber is also another food product that you need to increase in your diet to prevent cardiovascular disease. So here we've got some white beans. White beans, this is from an Asian market, very readily available. It is easy to cook. You soak it in water and then you can put it in soups and casseroles. Very popular in Asian soup dishes. And then here we have anise seeds, sesame seeds. Very tasty you can sprinkle it over soups and casseroles and here's a variety of nuts that you can get. They are normal plantain nuts and then cashew nuts, very high in fiber, good source of protein and also help to lower the cholesterol levels in your body because they absorb cholesterol. And here I thought would be interesting is a very popular fruit preserved. A Chinese fruit. Oops! I am going to show you another Chinese fruit. It's actually a prune. It's a plum that's been preserved and dried up and they put a lot of sort of sweet sugar on it so that it's tasty. And if I can open this up, it's kind of like this. It's very popular for Asian people and it's a good source of fiber. It's actually a, it's a prune, it's a sweetened prune, preserved. So these are some of the products. There are many other products that you can eat that has high fiber, like I said nuts which is very good for keeping your cholesterol level down."
