"Hi, I'm Carmen Lynne with Expert Village. So we're talking about dreams, and you may already be aware that there are many dream symbols or archetypes, which roughly speaking mean the same thing to everybody. Certain dream symbols that we all have in our dreams, such as for example flying. Pretty much all of us dream at some point about flying. And what does that mean? Well flying is a very positive symbol. You know how good you feel when you're flying in the dream. That is because it's a very positive experience. What's another symbol that we all have? It could be falling. Again, that feel pretty much the same for everybody. It's a very common fear, a fear of falling. In fact, it's a fear that we come into the world with as babies. So that as a dream symbol you can see how pretty much we all experience that in a similar way, and it can mean a similar kind of thing. Other very common symbols or archetypes would be your vehicle, the car. And for example, if you are driving the vehicle, if you're in the driver's seat, that means you are in the driver's seat of your life, you are in control. If you see that somebody else is driving and you're a passenger, or even if you're in the back of the car that means something else. It could mean that you feel that this other person is in control of your life more. So you can see how this works that symbols can be universal. However, I have to counter that by saying that of course symbols are also individual and personal because certain things mean different things to different people. For example, if you dream of a cat or a dog, that is going to very much be your individual experience of cats and dogs. You know you might be a cat person or a dog person. You might have been mauled by a dog at an early age and not have a very good experience of them, or you might regard a dog as a good positive symbol. So things like that are very much down to you as the individual, what does that symbol mean to you? And again, keeping a dream journal is going to help you very much to discover what the symbols mean to you personally. "
