"Every three minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. Four decades ago, the statistic was one in twenty women in the United States would be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their life. Today, that statistic has risen to one in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States, at some point in their lifetime. Although this is a grave and tragic message, the message about early detection of breast cancer is much more positive. Through the early detection of breast cancer we have the power to fight back and we can treat the disease such that the survival rate for a breast cancer patient, diagnosed in stage one, is one hundred percent. Breast cancer is a serious subject; however, by raising the awareness of breast cancer, you can help save someone's life. Here are some options to have fun with sharing the message about early detection. Monthly breast self examinations are an important part of your monthly breast health routine. Partners can use a simple, yet effective device, called the Breast Check Aid in examining one another's breasts for any changes in breast tissue. Using the Breast Check Aid the fingers glide smoothly over the surface of the skin and enable your finger tips to pick up any abnormalities under the surface of the skin. The aid can be used in gentle massage work. And working in massage into your self examination is a fun and effective way to examine breast tissue for changes. Another fun, easy way to share the message about the early detection of breast cancer is a woman reaching out to another woman through home parties or brunches where women can get together and talk about their breast health and changes in breast tissue. Again, introduce one another to the Breast Check Aid. Show one another how effective a monthly self examination can be and you just may encourage another woman to start performing her monthly routines which may lead to the early detection of breast cancer and saving your friend's life."
