"Monthly breast self examinations are an important part of your monthly breast health routine. To make it easier for you and more effective, Plexus Pink manufactures and distributes a product called the breast check aid. The breast check aid, allows your fingers to glide smoothly across the surface of your skin. Thereby, enabling your fingers and the pads of your fingers to detect small abnormalities easier. When performing a monthly breast self examination, using the breast check device, the most effective way is to lay in a supine or horizontal position. Remember the area you're checking during the monthly exam extends from the axillary area down past the breast tissue to the base of the breast and continues over to the sternum and up to the collar bone. It's a very large area and woman need to make sure that they're very thorough in their exam. When using the breast check aid, you do not try and hold the aid in place, but rather you let the aid glide over the breast tissue. With the pads of the first two or three fingers, you want to press firmly and allow your fingers to glide smoothly over the breast tissue. What you're looking for is any lump which maybe hard or soft, with even or uneven edges. Continue gliding over breast tissue, smoothly and slowly. When you finish an area move the breast check aid to the new area and continue gliding in a grid fashion, such as this. After you examine a particular area, such as the axillary area, you can lay the breast check aid in a different area and continue to examine the breast pressing firmly because you have to press through possibly inches and inches of breast tissue to thoroughly examine the breast. When examining the actual breast, lay the aid over the breast and again you're following a grid fashion. You're looking for any bumps, lumps or areas of soreness. If you detect any abnormality when performing your monthly breast self exam, please consult your doctor immediately and have your breast checked by a medical professional."
