Video Transcript

"One of the other treatments commonly used to treat OCD, is medication therapy. When we talk about medication therapy, what we're talking about is different types of medications that usually used in conjunction with CBT or the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy produce really good effective results in treating OCD. Some of the types of medications that you might be asked to try when you have OCD, are things such as Tricyclic anti-depressants or other medications that have to do with regulating your serotonin levels. It's really important that you talk to your primary care physician or anyone such as a psychiatrist who might be prescribing this medication, as to any kind of fears you might have any questions. So, that you feel really comfortable with taking the medication. Because, if you don't feel comfortable with the medication that's being prescribed and you don't think you're going to take it you're not going to be helping yourself. And, you won't be effectively treating your OCD. Again, keep a list of any kind of side effects that you might have or any kind of changes you notice. So, that you can then discuss them with your doctor. The key here is, to work with your doctor so that you can start to feel better not to feel worse."
