"Hi! This is David Jackel and I'm here to talk to you about avoiding smoking. Now, among the many bad things that smoking will do to your body, it limits your ability to fight off viruses. Your nose and your throat have tiny little hairs in them called cilia that are used to fight off viruses. What they do is they push out the germs. But anytime you smoke, those little cilia's become paralyze, which means they're useless and that opens up your body for an invasion from a virus. So what can you do? Well, if you smoke, consider quitting. It's a difficult thing to do but it's definitely worth it. If you can't quit, then try eliminating the amount of smoking that you do, particularly if you're feeling like you might be susceptible to catching a cold. Avoid breathing second hand smoke as much as you possibly can. Stay out of places that are filled with smokers because you're going to breathe in all that filt as well and it's going to mess up your respiratory system and you're going to suffer the same things. Preventing a cold is a real battle when it comes down to it and with so many things that can hurt you that you have to fight off, there's no reason to voluntary take on a habit like smoking, that is going to put you to a disadvantage."
