"Hi! This is Dr. Alida Smisek on behalf of expertvillage.com. I'm here to talk to you about teeth whitening tips and techniques. In this clip, we're going to talk about how to choose a whitening product that is provided by a dental professional. In most dental offices there are 2 types of whitening products offered. One is the take home type of product, which would be like a whitening strip or a bleaching tray. The other is a chair side whitening procedure. One of the most important things to consider with home whitening products is your compliance. If you're not going to comply with the instructions given by your dental professional, you won't get the results that you're hoping for, which can be very disappointing. The whitening techniques that are used at home require you to have trays made that are made specifically for your mouth and to apply the bleaching products for a specific period of time. The in-office whitening procedures are usually applied by a dentist in the dental chair for a short period of time and high intensity light is applied at the same time to speed up the bleaching procedure. The benefit of this is you get really quick whitening procedure. However, there are certain medications that can interact with the high intensity light and it's very important that you discuss these things with your dentist prior to having a whitening procedure."
