"In this clip we'll talk about the evaluation of what size to use for the breast implants, which is a big question that many women have. In fact, a very common finding is that women will potentially have some minor regret about having not gone large enough. Most women come in with the same expectation that they'll have a nice proportional size, not particularly oversize or not particularly obvious, but they want to make sure that they've got enough to make them happy. So what we do is, we do various things beginning with examining the patient and seeing the size and dimension of their breasts and then using a system that allows us to, based on the diameter of the breast, extrapolate to the possible implant size. Another way to do this is with sizers that we use in the office. And the sizers have various volumes of gel. These happen to be gel sizers. And through this method, the patient can get and idea of what actually will be going into their breast. And she can place these, for example, on her chest wall inside her bra and get some idea. It's not a completely accurate simulation, but it's some idea of what they might see once the implant is inside. The final method would be for patients to look at pictures, cumulative pictures, of a lot of women that have undergone breast augmentation so that they can identify someone of a similar size and a similar size that they're looking for, and get some idea of what they're looking for in terms of their result so they can identify individually. And they do depend a lot on the judgment of the physician and on themselves as well."
