Summary: How to do CPR rescue breathing in this free first aid video.
"Hi, my name is Alv Rios and I'm a Paramedic with Lansing Mercy Ambulance on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip we are going to talk about rescue breathing. The time you will give rescue breathing is after you have determined that the patient is unresponsive, open the airway, look, listen and feel to make sure that the patient is not breathing. You have now determined that the patient is not breathing, what you want to do is give your two ventilations. Once my two ventilations have gone in, I'm going to go ahead and check for my carotid pulse. If I determine that I do have a carotid pulse and that it is strong enough at a rate that is adequate, you know usually above sixty beats. There is no need to begin chest compressions. However, because the patient is not breathing, I need to now breathe for them; what we call rescue breathing. For an adult I am going to breathe once every six seconds for my patient. Again giving the same breaths that I have before just enough to see chest rise. For a child and infant I am going to give one breath every three seconds."
