"Hi, I’m Amy, and I am going to be talking to you about the various types of burns and what you can do in providing care for those types of burns. There are three general types of burns that can occur. There are solar burns from staying out in the sun too long. There are thermal burns, which are really common when you inadvertently splash yourself with hot water, pulling it out of the microwave, or if you rip off that plastic too quickly when you uncover something from a microwave, and there is additionally the types of burns that occur either second or third degree burns. There is some general care that you want to do for those. If it is a solar burn, you just want to clean the affected area and cover it with a burn cream or spray, and you want to be careful that nothing beyond a solar burn, you should ever use the burn cream or the burn spray from in your first aid kit. If it is a thermal burn, it is acceptable to go ahead and apply a cold compress to that burn to ease the pain of the burn. If you don’t have a cold compress, that bag of frozen vegetables in the freezer works just great."
