"Hi my name is Amy, and today we are talking about caring for a burn. Virtually all burns, even ones that have blisters, the best rule of thumb when someone has been burned is to run the burn under cool running water. You want to place the affected limb or hands under the running water, and bathe it with as much water as possible. If you call 911 because it is a bare burn that is covering more than one body part or a burn to someone that has diabetes, an elderly individuals or a child, feel free to keep that limb or whatever affected part that has been burned under the cool running water until the paramedics have arrived. If you call 911 because it is a severe burn on more than one body part, on the hands, feet or genitals or on a child or elderly person or possibly someone who has diabetes, feel free to keep the affected area under the cool running water until the paramedics arrive. That is going to ease the pain and possibly keep the victim from going into shock."
