" Hi! I am Angela on behalf of expertvillage.com, and right now I will be discussing posture and the proper way to lift things with correct posture. Right here, I have a tool kit, and the proper way for me to lift this is to use my leg muscles as well as my stomach muscles. A lot of people rely on their back muscles and that’s how they strain them in this area right here. So what I am going to do is I am just going to lean forward straight, having my back straight lifting it up with my stomach muscles and my legs muscles, and I can feel my muscles being used in my legs. If it is really heavy, you hold it close to your chest so that you can have equilibrium. If you are holding it from side-to-side, you want to change it frequently because the position that you are having it in, and you are leaning over there or if you are leaning just keep it like this which strains your back, so change, alternate the sides frequently. Also, with backpacks you want to be extra careful that you do not have too much weight on the backpack. If you do, you want to have a backpack with wheels, so if you put all the stuff on the backpack, it does not matter how correct your posture is, it will be hyperextending your back in which case you will have a very, very sore back and upper neck area and that is the proper way and the proper posture for lifting things.
