"There's a, again, there's guidelines for after you've had surgery, after you've had transplants, for whatever reason. We have to, as the American Red Cross and looking at patients safety, make sure that any patient that has an organ or tissue transplant or even a unit of blood, in a transfusion, we need to make sure that, first off, you're healing properly, things are going well for you, that you're doing well and then we also have to be very careful that your body is not rejecting, whatever you received, be it tissue, be it organ, be it blood. So, we've got to make sure that we give you time to heal properly, that you feel well, that there is no reaction to what you're receiving and then after a year, when all that's over, we'll actually take you back in and let you donate again. It's almost like a continuous cycle, once you've received, you're well, you're healed and everything is going great, we're going to ask you to come back and donate blood, believe it or not. So, we're always looking for those folks also because a lot of times people, or patients, will have a lot of things done in the hospital and they'll assume, or think, that's a reason for a deferral from the rest of my life. Now I've received a unit of blood I probably won't be able to ever give again, well you can, you just have to wait a year and come back and see us. So, the organ and tissue transplants are greatly needed, that's why we want patients to receive that, once it's been a year and everything's good, they can come back to see us and we will definitely want you to come back and see us, so please do that."
