"If I were to ask a group of people which nutrients they think provides energy to our body for our metabolism. I would probably get a lot of different answers. Most people don't know that the only nutrients that actually provide us with energy or metabolism are carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Carbohydrates are main source of energy and they come from a lot of foods that we eat and we'll cover that in a minute. Another source of energy from metabolism is proteins and proteins are used more for building blocks and so the metabolism that occurs, with proteins usually occurs with reproduction or growth when a child is growing, the bones are building and the muscles are building and things like that. Fat metabolism is often occurs during some form of exercise, we'll get into that but also it's part of the metabolism that occurs for movement for the lubrication for the joints. Also it is great for metabolism when we talk about vitamins and minerals. So these are the three nutrients that we need for energy metabolism."
