"Hi! I'm Brenda F. Dixon, the owner of Life Help Now in Nashville, Tennessee. I'm a licensed clinical social worker, and we're here with Expert Village. We're talking about how to deal with anxiety disorders. I wanted to tell you a little bit about another treatment that's most interesting. There are lots of phobias that are associated with this anxiety disorder. One of the things that is used often with anxiety disorder is let's say a person is fearful of heights. If they go with a trusted friend, or actually a therapist may take them, but they will go to the place where they are fearful and they will become accustom to this knowing that they are with someone else and it just totally lifts off the fear. They become accustom to it gradually and they’re kind of weaned into so that they have a lot of strength from being with the other person, and it begins to eliminate the fear of the height. Other phobias are done in very similar ways."
