"Hi! I'm Brenda F. Dixon, the owner of Life Help Now in Nashville, Tennessee. We're here with Expert Village today. Our topic is how to deal with anxiety disorders. I've been giving a couple of tips on how to handle it, but I want to take a little pause from that and let the listener know a little bit more about the origin of these disorders. Many times they come about through childhood adversity. They come about through illnesses, stress, something to do with their personality. They may have a personality just as a worrier personality. They just linger and think about thinks that just pull them down, or actually can be something genetic, it's actually carried down through the family line. It's real quite important to know what the origin of it is. I wanted to give you an example about a childhood adversity. I saw a film one time that was really interesting. There was a child that was laying in bed sleeping and he heard this ruckus downstairs, so he got up, tip toed, and looked down the stairway. His parents were pushing each other. Dad pushed mom dad and hurt her. This little 3 year old saw it. No one knew that this child was watching this, so it actually traumatized him. He had such fear that crept into his life that it carried all the way through to his adult years. When he actually got counseling, he began to learn what the root of that was. That's an example of an anxiety disorder that just actually comes about from something that started at a very early age that the family didn't even know about. These disorders have so many different roots that they come from. It's important to go and find the root of the disorder."
