"Okay, we're working on our cutting for our humorous interpretation. And we've got--we've already established that it's going to make sense, it's going to have a through line, and it's going to have a beginning, middle, and end. We're going to take bits and pieces throughout the play to put this story together. But one of the things that we have to make sure exist is conflict and resolution. And what conflict and resolution is the big event--the big explosion, the characters get in a fight, or they get together and they get married, or what is the big event that must explode that we've been working for? Now after this big explosion, he goes to jail, she leaves, he divorces her, somebody dies, whatever this giant conflict is, then our cutting also has to have a resolution. And what a resolution is, is what happens after this conflict? She died, so now we're moving on. She got thrown in jail, so now the husband's going to have an affair. Whatever it is, there must be conflict resolution."
