"All right, let's talk about visualization for a minute and actually feeling the vibration of the words. If you were to mimic someone from the South, you could be talk like this I want you to talk like this and I want you to put your hands back here. You should be able to feel the words vibrating back here. Ok, so now close your eyes and visualize when you're talking normal, the vibrations in the middle of your mouth. I want you to visualize shooting that forward, all right, so that you can feel more of a vibration in your chin. Start this with talking normal, but over-exaggerating dropping your chin. Because we tend to not drop our jaw when we talk, but New Yorkers do. So just talk normal and try to visualize the words coming down into your chin, and see if you can feel the vibration in your chin. If you need to make an adjustment, a physical adjustment, take your bottom lip and pull it out. Pull your bottom lip out and talk. Because that?s where you're going to be placing these words, is in this jaw, and you're really working that bottom lip. If all else fails, the sure-fire way to get New York dialect placement, is to put a big old wad of gum in your mouth or maybe you don't even need a real wad of gum, you use imaginary gum. But start smacking the gum and talk while you're smacking. That will force the words into your jaw by default, because you're chewing the gum, and that's the most important thing for you to remember is that sensation of smacking the gum. The jaw is moving, the jaw is moving, and let me tell you something as you're working on this. if your jaw is hurting by now, you're doing it right."
