"TRAVIS JOHNS: Hi. I'm Travis Johns with Expert Village, and I'm going to be talking to you about working with multiple applications in your home video post-production studio. Obviously, as an editor or a graphic designer, depending on the job, depending on your skill set, you're going to have to be using multiple applications to achieve the final goal. When it comes to choosing the applications, obviously you want to choose applications that you are comfortable with, applications that you have a confidence and a skill set with. Also, you want to make sure that your applications are going to play nice with each other; by that I mean considering your RAM, considering your processor's speed. Sometimes you have too many applications open and it'll end up crashing your computer. For instance, sometimes your graphics card can interfere with multiple applications at once and end up crashing your computer. You want to make sure that when you're getting these applications, you check and see all of the updates, any sort of user-generated feedback for that application so that you're not going to run into problems later on down the line. Obviously, in an application like Avid, you're going to need to be using graphics that are going to come from an outside source. So you want to make sure that you can work between the two, setting up your import and export settings so that you'll get a final product that the client will be happy with."
