"TRAVIS JOHNS: Hi. I'm Travis Johns with Expert Village, and I'll be talking about dealing with client's last-minute requests. A lot of the times you'll get to the end of the project, everything will be done and in the bag, all your list of items that you were to deliver to them, they have them, except what? They've asked for one little thing or one little change, and sometimes this is irritating, sometimes this could be costly and detrimental to your income on the entire project. When they ask for these changes last minute, it's important to ask yourself some questions. How long is this going to take me? How much should I charge them for these changes? Did they ever mention it before? If you have any documentation that they had not, well, then they're going to have to pay for these changes. The important thing for you to remember is to maintain a professional veneer but also not get taken advantage of when they ask for little things here and there, because sometimes you can find yourself in a position where you've given them a favor and then they come to expect it the second time around. The important thing is to protect yourself so that you're not giving out time, giving out media, anything like that, for free. Remember, a last-minute request is just that, it's a request not a demand, and if you had not agreed to this prior to the project start, then that means it's extra work and that means you can charge them for it. Don't ever feel obligated to give them something just because you've set up relationship. Business is business and it should be treated as such, and as long as you stand your ground and do it in a respectful manner, the client will respect you as well and you'll be able to come to an agreeable conclusion."
