"TRAVIS JOHNS: Hi. I'm Travis Johns for Expert Village, and I'm going to be talking to you about providing physical deliverables to a client at the end of a project. Providing a client with everything they need at the very end is going to encompass a wide range of things. Not only are they going to need the actual media, but what kind of media they're going to want it on. Do they want it in another drive? Do they want it burned to a DVD? Do they want CDs? What has been promised to them from the beginning? You also might want to consider all of your invoicing. Do they have all the paperwork they need? Are there any releases to sign? And finally, if they provided you with footage at the beginning of a project, do they need that footage back and in what format? And will that put any extra work on you at the end and will you be charging them for any money? All of these things are important to consider when giving them all of the physical material at the very end. It's important to know all of the physical deliverables before a project starts. For instance, in the context of a release form, you don't get a second chance to go get that release form. If you are shooting out in the field, say at a bar, a nightclub or some sort of stadium where people are running in and out of the shot, if you didn't get the release form at the beginning, you obviously cannot use their likeness in the video and that can cause legal ramifications which could impede the progress of finalizing your project. So, make sure you know exactly what you need to give them at the very beginning so you won't get caught at the very end."
