" My name is Wayne Phelps. I’m a professional magician and this is expertvillage.com. Let’s talk a little bit about where you can find your coins. You can purchase your coins mostly in two locations, coin stores or the banks. Now let’s talk a little bit about the coin shops. Coin shops come in many shapes, forms and sizes. You have coin shops that deal specifically with foreign coins, you have coin shops that deal with domestic coins and coin shops that deal with rare hard to find antiques. When doing magic with coins, it’s important you have something that looks good, but also feels good in your hand. So you don’t always need to super rare, super hard to find expensive coins. You can often find silver coins that may be a little bit rubbed down, may be it has lost a little bit of their collectors value, you can pick them up cheaper, they still perform good, they still have a flash and flair when the light hits it just the right way and it still has magic left in it. When you’re shopping around, not only you have the coin stores or the banks you can shop at but don’t forget your best friend online as well. Keep your eyes open. Book stores and antique stores are great places to look as well for your coins. A lot of times collectors will come in, dump their collections off, dump a couple of coins off so when you’re looking for the coins you might run across something else as well that you might get an idea for an effect and you walk out with two things instead of one.
