Shaping a Native American Wooden Flute

"So here is what the flute in the previous clip looks like when it's glued up. I use the simple clamps and just leave it for a day or so. This is a flute that's also been glued and I'm about to shake the outside of the flute. You can do this now or you can do it at the end, more toward the end but I just use a plain and take the edges off the square flute. Since this is the Winnepesaukee model that's more tapered, I'll also consider that when I'm plaining. One thing never to do is to change anything up where the wind way is, because what you want there is a very flat even place for the bird to sit. So I'm just plaining the edges and making the basic shape of the flute. The fine shaping will come later. As you can see I'm already putting a little bit of the taper in."
