"Once you're able to do the very long slow vibrato and it's becoming easier for you and you can speed it up slightly and do it on different notes. Even the lowest note. It's very good practice for getting in touch with how your breath is produced and making sure to keep it free and easy and develops the muscles you need also to regulate the between the low notes on the flute and the higher notes. The low notes need a little bit less air and even with the vibrato the air is still going up and down but it's at a little bit lower level than the higher notes. So it's developing all the skills while you're learning vibrato at the same time. When you get to the point where that's comfortable you can experiment with speeding it up and then you're there."
