"Now we're going to get into some of the 7 chords. Specifically, here G major 7, of just major 7 in general, we're going to use the G as an example. Now, a major 7 chord is the same as a major chord, which employs the positions of one, three, and five from the major scale. And, we add in the major 7, the seventh scale degree. Now, in the case of G the major 7 note, seventh scale degree, would be F sharp. It's a half step below the root. Now, if we take a look at our G chord. This is just a G major chord. (playing demo) You'll see, here, that we have two G notes. We have a G, here, on the third fret of the E string and we also have the open G string. Now, we only need one of those. So, we're going to take this G and lower it by a half step, so that now we have the major 7, we have the seventh scale degree involved. We still have the three and the five, giving us a G major 7 chord."
