"Here I'll discuss tremolo picking. Now first, tremolo, the word tremolo means slight deviations of amplitude. So loud, soft, loud, soft, very quickly. That kind of sound, rather than vibrato which means up and down in pitch, in frequency. So essentially, to create tremolo picking on the ukulele, you're going to pick the string very quickly. Now the reason that would be called tremolo picking is because when you strike the string, there's a sharp peak in amplitude. It's very loud for a very short period of time right when you strike the string, and then it decays. So every time you pick the string, you get a peak. So the faster you pick, the more peaks you have going by, thus creating that kind of tremolo sound."
