"TOM SMITH: Hi. My name is Tom and this is for ExpertVillage.com. We're talking about how to play keyboards in a worship band at a church. Some of the other sounds that are good to have a couple good ones in your pocket are piano sounds. Piano is nice in that it's percussive. It's got a good attack, and it actually kinda breaks through some of the other things that people are playing. So, that's useful to use. And usually, it's nice to have a couple of pianos. Find something that's bright and maybe it's just by fiddling with tone controls or maybe if you've got a synthesizer, usually, they have more than one piano. Find kind of a bright piano, also find the softer piano. Softer pianos for certain songs also work. Another sound, it's good to have written down, ready to use, is like a bell sound. Something, it adds a little bit of sparkle and color and plays off the other band members quite nicely. The problem you've got to watch with bells is there's a lot of ring. So, you've got to make sure that when you're playing bells, I usually play one note, like a counter melody or maybe two max, because otherwise, it bleeds into the other sounds."
