"TOM SMITH: Hi. This is Tom. This is for ExpertVillage.com. We're talking about how to play keyboards in a band, a worship team at a church. And another approach I have to songs is try and make my chords move somehow. So, if I'm playing a G, like a 5th, I'll just play it, say, a G and a D. So, two notes instead of just sitting there for the length of that chord, I might just noodle a bit on that bottom note. And all I'm doing is going up one, back down to a D, down one, or maybe I'll go down to a B. So, it's surprising how just a little bit of motion brings a little more out of a song rather than just sitting on that chord. It changes. We'll talk about different sound you'll get along the way, but even with an organ or something that like strings that is a continuous sound, a little bit of movement helps color it."
