"TOM SMITH: Hi. This is Tom. This is for ExpertVillage.com. We're talking about how a keyboard player can play in a worship team at a church. There are different approaches to a song to a chorus. The first one was block chords, the second one is arpeggios. So, instead of playing all the notes at the same time, I'm just going to arpeggiate it. So if we look at the same song, we did in the last session enough, maybe I'm playing something like this, and you can arpeggiate up or down, just up, just down, back and forth, and what you're trying to do is play the notes in time with the feel of the song. Obviously, if it's a fast song, you're going to play the arpeggio a little faster; if it's a slow song like this one, you might play it slower. So, it might go something like, [START SONG] "You're my supply, my breath of life, more awesome than I know." [END SONG] And you can see on the arpeggios, I am, again, just playing three notes. So the standard triad, and sometimes, I'm playing just an octave, so that arpeggio I'm just hitting the octave with an A in the middle for the D chord. So, arpeggio is a second approach to worship tunes in a team setting."
