"Hi on behalf of Expert Village I'm Melanie LaPatin and I'm Tony Meredith and we're co-owners of Dance Times Square Studios in NYC we're here to show you how to rumba. I just want to touch on the Cuban motion using just before we get into it because it does require a lot of rehearsal and technique, and if you don' t get it done correctly you can look a little bit awkward. As we stand at our feet together you actually just bend and straightened your knees and as if you notice and the bend is straight and the hips are moving from side to side. Now you'll notice to that as we get to one side your going to rotate the hip back and then your going to push it forward to straightened the knee and rotate the other hip back. This is called Cuban motion so it's a figure 8 when it's done correctly so all the moving your doing throughout all the patterns we're showing require all this figure 8 action. You do as much as you possible want to or as little as possible as you want to and your back is also involved not only the hips but your using your back and pressing down as well."
