"Hi! On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Meredith LaPatin and I am Tony Meredith and we are co-owners of Dance Time Square Studios in New York City. We are here to show you how to Rumba. Okay we are going to start with the Rumba and one of the most important things about this particular dance is the technique. It is taken with the ball of the feet on the floor each step that you are taking. Also you will note that the knees bend. One knee bends and one knee straightens with each step taken. That allows the hip movement to actually shift left and right and what they call a delay hip action. So if I do the figure in any of the steps that I will be showing you, I will always be using the same technique and characterization of the dance. It is a dance that originated in Cuba and of course, there is always a very liquid or miracle sense of movement with the hips and it is maintaining the top line and as Melanie said, this is a social dance. The idea is to make it look natural, easy and as comfortable as you could possibly make it. "
