"Hello. My name is Tony Ramirez from Tampa, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village; this is "How to Write a Screenplay". Let's get started. Chapter 7-The Fade In "Fade In" is the beginning of your script. This isn't required every single time, but it is recommended for a lot of the scripts. So what we're going to want to do is--we have a blank complete template here--again, I'm using a screen writing software right now, so it's going to be justified completely to the left just like if it's a action script. So I have the complete hundred percent blank screen here. I just go ahead and type in the words, all in caps, FADE IN, colon, enter. And just like that we've started our first script. This is actually your "FADE FROM BLACK" to start the movie completely off. Of course, at the end of the movie, we're going to do a "FADE OUT". So, this is your "FADE IN". Again, it's on the top--same font size, same everything, justified completely to the left, just like if it's a action script. FADE IN, all in caps, colon and that's it. We've started our first script."
