"STEVE ANTHONY: On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Steve Anthony. I'm here in New York City. Today, I'm going to talk a little bit about some beginning guitar picking techniques. Now, as we talk about the various picking styles, it's important to keep in mind that the more you do it, the more comfortable you get with it. The first time you sit down and try to do a fancy finger picking--you're going to say, "I can't do that." Well, you can 'cause I did and I was exactly where you are now. It's a matter of just practicing it over and over. You start slow until you start to get more comfortable. Pick up the pace. What is--the most important thing is to stick with it. Keep doing it over and over and if you don't get it right, slow down and practice it real slow. You feel that alternating string? As you get more comfortable you can start to play it faster. Before you know it, you're going to be playing better than me. I've been playing for a lot of years and I'm still practicing at it."
